Not to toot our own horn, but since their inception in 1991 the MTV Movie Awards have proven to be one of the hippest parties in town. Not only is the annual event a major draw for the who's who in Hollywood, via the A-list nominees, presenters and performers, but there are always a few unexpected surprises and special sneak peeks from Hollywood's most anticipated upcoming releases.
We are proud to announce that this year's live broadcast will feature the debut of exclusive new footage from one of the summer's most highly anticipated movies, "The Dark Knight Rises." And if that's not exciting enough, the film's writer/director Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gary Oldman will be on hand to introduce the never-before-seen footage. If you've been following the news surrounding Nolan's third and very likely final Batman film, you know that plot details have been kept under lock and key, so any chance to see anything new from the film ahead of its July 20 release is definitely cause for celebration.
MTV also announced Thursday (May 24) that "Magic Mike" stars Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey have been added to the impressive lineup of presenters, which also includes: Adam Sandler, Emma Watson, Andy Samberg, Leighton Meester, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Ezra Miller, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg. In addition, chart-topping indie-pop group fun. and rapper Wiz Khalifa are set to perform.
MTV fans hold the "Power of the Popcorn" in their hands, with voting available online via MovieAwards.MTV.com through Saturday, June 2. As always, voting for Movie of the Year will remain open throughout the live show Sunday, June 3.

Destiny Jones and Nas in his "Daughters" music video

Nas is notoriously private, but on his latest single, "Daughters," the Queensbridge Don gets pretty personal. He first rapped about baby Destiny Jones on his 1994 single "The World is Yours," but now Baby Des is a full-blown teenager, and in the video premiering Sunday on MTV Jams, he chronicles their daddy-daughter relationship through her eyes.
"Right off the bat, he really loved the idea of the P.O.V.," the video's director, Chris Robinson, told MTV News by phone Thursday.
Robinson, who has a 6-year-old daughter, said he got choked up the first time he heard the soul-bearing track, in which Nas admits to both his faults and disappointments as a dad. The track, which will appear on the rapper's upcoming Life is Good LP, immediately began to spark creative ideas for the veteran lens man — though the call to cast Destiny in the clip came from God's Son himself.
"I think that this song for Nas is so personal, everything in the song is real, that he wanted to share this moment with his fans, with the world, and it was actually his suggestion," Robinson revealed. "I was ready to cast someone, and he was real calm and said, 'Hey, Dest is gonna be here, I think we need to keep it real.' "
Though Nas is more famous than most dads, there are certain trials and tribulations that can't be eclipsed by money and fame. There are certain universal laws that all fathers face.
"You still can't escape the everyday things of your child growing up. You can be the king of Zamunda," Robinson said, referencing the fictional Africa country made famous in Eddie Murphy's 1988 comedy "Coming to America," "Or you can be a rapper, or you can be a regular guy with a regular job, but there are certain things that happen as a child grows. So, the concept of the video is that."

With 'Battleship' sinking at the box office, the role of Finnick Odair could serve as the actor's life raft.

Forget those Robert Pattinson rumors. I have a winning first-round draft pick for Adonis-like District 4 tribute Finnick Odair: former "Friday Night Lights" star Taylor Kitsch.
To be sure, Kitsch's name isn't a new one in the frenzied speculation over who should play the "Catching Fire" hunk. For months, he's been mentioned in the same breath as fan favorites like Armie Hammer and Garrett Hedlund, but with the less-than-stellar performance of "Battleship," Kitsch needs one in the win column, and "The Hunger Games" sequel could be it.
When the MTV Movies staff sat down at the end of the year to compile our 2012 wish list, my deepest desire was to see the erstwhile Tim Riggins make good on the big screen. He's had a couple opportunities so far, starting with Disney's sci-fi adventure "John Carter." The adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel reportedly cost the studio $350 million to produce, but opened to a disappointing $30.6 million domestically. Likewise, last weekend's board-game-inspired actioner fell $15 million short of box-office experts' modest $40 million projections.
Kitsch has one more 2012 film yet to bow — the Oliver Stone-directed "Savages" — but he needs a high-profile role in a box-office barnburner to really introduce him to the masses and secure a spot as a go-to leading man. Hence, Finnick Odair.
I'll be the first to admit Kitsch doesn't perfectly fit my mental image of the trident-wielding tribute; he isn't blond, nor is he very tall (though have you seen him without a shirt on?). Abs aside, what matters more is that he's able to effectively capture the essence of this surprisingly multifaceted character. Which, if you watched the dearly departed "Friday Night Lights," you know Kitsch can do. After all, Finnick is really just the Tim Riggins of Panem. He's clearly damaged yet still has the capacity to nurture and love — in other words, just two bad boys with big hearts.
After the first film's boffo box office (returns are currently around the $400 million mark), the sequel's success is basically a foregone conclusion. So, Taylor, as you ponder your next career step, why not take a look at the "Catching Fire" script (if you haven't already) and see if you're up for the arena? This could be the blazing hot role you've been looking for.
Do you think Taylor Kitsch would make a good Finnick? Sound off in the comments below and tweet me @amymwilk with your thoughts and suggestions for future columns!

Star of 'Terminator: Rise of the Machines' has not been heard from since May 9, his wife told L.A. officials.

"Terminator: Rise of the Machines" actor Nick Stahl has been reported missing. Los Angeles law enforcement officials confirmed to TMZ that Stahl's wife, Rose Murphy, reported her husband missing on Monday, saying that the last time she saw the 32-year-old was on May 9.
Sources told the website that Stahl had been displaying some erratic behavior recently and was allegedly spending time in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles. The source also expressed concern that the actor might have become involved in some questionable activities.
This is not the first time, however, that those close to the actor have expressed concern over his well-being. Stahl's wife filed papers with the LA County Superior Court back in February asking a judge to limit her husband's access to their 2-year-old daughter Marlo due to his alleged drug and alcohol abuse. She also claimed that she and Stahl were no longer living together.
There has been no word from Stahl's reps regarding his whereabouts, but Stahl's wife has been relatively active on her Twitter account, posting a general thank you for support early Wednesday (May 16). "Thank you for kind words," she tweeted.

A quick look at Stahl's Twitter account shows that the actor has been inactive since May 1, but that he and Murphy might have been working through their problems since the actor tweeted on April 26 that they were not actually separated.
Not sure where it got started but @TheMrsStahl and I are not separated. Far from it

"Not sure where it got started but @TheMrsStahl and I are not separated. Far from it," he wrote.
Stahl made his big-screen debut back in 1993 opposite Mel Gibson in "The Man Without a Face." Since then, he's appeared in several major studio films, inclduing "The Thin Red Line," "Disturbing Behavior" and "Sin City." His most recent role is in the VOD-released "388 Arletta Avenue" opposite Devon Sawa.
